LEARNABILITY OF CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR The Case of 1st Year LMD Students at Tahar Moulay University of Saida

Abstract

الملخص (بالعربية) : إمكانية تعلم الاستعارة المفاهمية في إطار تربوي هي موضوع هذا البحث. على الطالب المتخصص في دراسة اللغة الانجليزية كلغة الهدف أن يتمرس على توظيف الاستعارة المفاهمية فى انجازاته الشفهية و كذا الكتابية. الهدف المرجو وراء ذلك هو تعويده على الأسلوب العميق الدال. ما حاولت هذه الأطروحة استقصاءه وهو إيجاد سبل لجعل الاستعارة المفاهمية فى متناول الطالب و كذا تدعيمه بمقاربات تأويلية.

Conceptual metaphor or cognitive metaphor and its learnability is the core of this thesis. Conceptual metaphor refers to the understanding of one thing in terms of another. And learnability is how learnable a piece of instruction is. This undertaking investigates cognitive metaphor and the ways to make it learnable. A non- native learner needs to master this figure of speech if he or she wants to be a competent language user. Likewise, conceptual metaphor affords excellent means to make someone’s written or spoken endeavours creative, compact, and succinct. Ultimately, the current dissertation suggests to both the instructor and students a range of approaches as well as activities to express their thoughts in a profound and consistent manner free from flimsiness and duplication.
