The impact of teacher’s professional self-esteem on students personal and academic development

Abstract

الملخص (بالعربية) :

'تقدير الذات' هي واحدة من المفاهيم التي لاقت اهتماما واسعا من عدة باحثين. الصورة التي يقدمها الشخص لنفسه يمكن أن تكون السبب الأساسي لنجاحه أو فشله. إن تطور الذات ما هو إلا نتيجة متوقعة عن تطور عدد من عناصر أساسية للشخصية مثل: الثقة بالنفس،وقبول الذات والكفاءة الذاتية. وبالتالي فإن التوازن بين هذه العوامل لابد وأن يؤدي إلى المستوى المطلوب من احترام الذات. إضافة إلى ذلك فإن نجاح أو فشل الطلاب قد يكون نتيجة احترام الأساتذة لذواتهم. على هذا الأساس، فإن البحث التالي يرمي إلى الكشف عن تأثير نظرة الأستاذ لنفسه على تطور المستوى الأكاديمي للطلاب كذا شخصياتهم ثمت قديم بعض التقنيات المناسبة والمعقولة لمستوى صحي من احترام الذات.

Summary

Self-esteem is one of the notions that is widely conferred with researchers. The image provided by oneself can be the core foundation for either his/her success or failure. Its heightening is related to the logical concomitant of a number of personality aspect’s growth such as: self-confidence, self-acceptance and self-efficacy. Hence, the balance between these factors is believed to result in a healthy level of self-esteem. Then, students’ success or failure can be the upshot of teachers’ self-esteem level. Hitherto, the present research is meant to divulge the influence that teachers’ self-esteem has on students’ academic and personal development. The notable objective is to scrutinize teachers’ self-esteem sources, and to examine its impact on students’ learning and personality growth. Then, to seek some appropriate and plausible techniques for a healthy level of self-esteem.
