Résumé: Every society has gone through one experience or the other; such experiences are what writers portray in their writings. The portrayal of woman is also governed by the prevailing attitude towards women in society and the author's response to it. The primary focus of attention in Truth Tales: Contemporary Stories Written by Women of India is a realistic picture of woman. The tales delineate the social and moral restrictions which Dalit women have to contend with in life under gender, caste and class oppressions. Despite the difficult job, indeed, to give voice to women who stand as subaltern, voices are raising strongly for the equal access to rights and assets and their inclusion in society. They are aware of the marginalization of their individuality but still in the life of silent suffering. The authors offer readers an intimate and domestic chronicle of the inner world of women and the pain of coming to self-knowledge, they try to trace in their writings the feminine sense and sensibilities, responses and reactions in the Indian social milieu. The stories depict effectively a disturbed but a brave feminine psyche in the new ethos.
---------------------------------------------- SUMMARY Every society has gone through one experience or the other; such experiences are what writers portray in their writings.
