-------------------------------------------------- Abstract (en Anglais) : The concept of "the intellectual" is one of the thorny concepts that has been and is still subject to many studies and research, based on various considerations and ideas. After the emergence of this term in the European civilization and the social issue of ‘The Dreyfus Affair’, which reflects the extent of injustice and abuse in many societies in the world. Perhaps that is what led to the spread of the values of justice, equality and freedom. Thus, this incident was a sufficient reason to make the intellectual as a term closely related to changing the status quo and ridding the individual or society of the manifestations of injustice and tyranny. As for revolution, in its idiomatic meaning, it is the radical change of the prevailing conditions in order to replace them with better ones. From these perspectives, the Algerian revolution was the result of revolutionary fermentation among the Algerian people, resulting from their revolutionary struggle experiences since the beginning of the French occupation in 1830, as revolutionary violence has not left the Algerian mentality since that stage. After that, the political and cultural struggle was nothing but a new stage of the Algerian fighting, and a link between the stage of popular resistance and the stage of preparation for the armed struggle. During this historical period of struggle against French exceptional laws, the ideology of the revolutionary intellectual took form and utilized the suffering of the Algerian people at that time as a fertile ground to plan for armed action. The Algerian revolutionary intellectual played a prominent role in the armed struggle, as he tried by all available means, despite their simplicity, to regain the expropriated freedoms and change the status quo with courage and impulse as two basic conditions for change. The result was the announcement of the great liberation revolution on November 1, 1954, which brought about the desired change in colonial Algeria. At the same time, it was an opportunity for the emergence of new classes of educated people who found new prospects for change and the chance to express their hopes for an independent homeland with full national sovereignty. Accordingly, the process of liberating the land in Algeria owes its success to two related movements. The first is a conscious military force that used revolutionary violence and included in its ranks revolutionary vanguards who believed in their mission and were imbued with patriotism and willingness for change. The second is a national culture that uses rational planning and does not hesitate to resort to revolutionary violence to eliminate the manifestations of dependency in all its forms. These two movements are inseparable and interdependent, as one of them cannot achieve victory unless the other manages to embody all of its objectives, thus achieving the national goals that have become common to both movements due to the strength of the revolution and the effectiveness of its ideology. Keywords :. :. the intellectual / The Dreyfus Affair / revolutionary violence/ the Algerian revolution
