Myths and Metamorphoses in Dorothea Tanning and Leonora Carrington’s Art

الملخص (بالعربية) :

تعد ليونورا كارينغتون (1917-2011) و دوروثيا تانينغ (1910-2012) من أبرز آخر فناني السريالية .تتسم رسوماتهما و لوحاتهما بالجمع بين القمع و السواد مع الأناقة، الحدة و التوتر مع العطف و الحنان .زيادة على ذلك، تجرأن على تحدي الفرضيات السائدة في كتابات محفزة و ملهمة توحي بأن المرأة ليست أداة سلى ولهو بل تتعدى ذلك كونها نشطة. بالرغم من الإخلاف الفني إلا أنهما اجتمعتا على قلب المعتقدات و المبادئ السريالية السائدة من خلا ل أعمالهما، مما أدى برجال اعتقدوا العكس، بالاعتراف بالمرأة كفنانة و مخترعة نشطة. حكاية تانينغ A Weekend :و كارينغتون: The hearing trumpet، تعتبران النقطة التي قلبت المعتقدات السريالية القامعة للنساء، أعمالهم تمحورت حول شخصيات نسوية مثل "دستينا" و "ماريان" اللتان نجحتا في اكتشاف الروعة، إنجازاتهم التي اتسمت بالاستقلالية و الحس الواضح بالمحيط.

Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) et Dorothea Tanning (1910-2012) ont été parmi les derniers grands artistes surréalistes. Leurs peintures sont à la fois oppressantes et élégantes, tendues et affectueuses. En outre, leurs écrits sont inspirants et stimulants, car ils ont osé contrecarrer les hypothèses dominantes de leurs vies, à savoir les femmes en tant qu’actives et non pas seulement des muses. Bien qu'elles soient quelque peu dissemblables en tant qu'artistes et qu'elles acceptent de manière privée une foule de causes, Tanning et Carrington ont renversé les croyances et les principes patriarcaux Surréalistes à l'aide de leurs œuvres. Elles peuvent être associées aux revendications de la femme en tant qu’inventeur et artiste dans le visage des hommes jadis qui ont pu penser différemment. Le récit de Tanning Chasm: A Weekend et The Hearing Trumpet de Carrington sont des romans littéraires qui ont réussi à renverser les croyances Surréalistes qui ont autrefois réprimé les femmes. Leur travail présente des personnages féminins, tels que Destina et Marian, qui réussissent leur expédition vers le Merveilleux. Leurs réalisations se font par elles-mêmes, par le biais d'une autonomie et d'un discernement clair de l'univers qui les entoure.

Abstract (en Anglais) :

Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) and Dorothea Tanning (1910-2012) were among the last great Surrealist artists. Their paintings are both oppressive and elegant, tense and affectionate. In addition, their writings are inspiring and stimulating because they dared to thwart the dominant assumptions of their lives, namely women as active and not just muses. Although they are somewhat dissimilar as artists and privately accept a host of causes, Tanning and Carrington have overthrown Surreal patriarchal beliefs and principles through their works. They can be associated with the claims of the woman as an inventor and artist in the face of old men who may have thought differently. Tanning Chasm's A Weekend and Carrington's The Hearing Trumpet are literary novels that have successfully reversed the Surrealist beliefs that once stifled women. Their work features female characters, such as Destina and Marian, who succeed in their expedition to the Wonderful. Their achievements are done by themselves, through an autonomy and a clear discernment of the universe that surrounds them.
