Résumé (Français et/ou Anglais) :
Assessment is a fundamental part of the learning process as it has a major role in checking whether the students are making progress or not. One of the main types of the assessment that this study deals with is the written exam. Many English teachers do not have sufficient background on the students’ motivation, how to benefit from such factor to direct students towards the intended learning outcomes. In this respect, this study attempts to determine the kind of the motivation the students display towards learning by using the written exam as a tool, for the third year English LMD students at the University of Djillali-Liabes.
The researcher aims to make a link between these two major issues, as there is a need to develop certain methods on how to benefit from the written exam to adjust teaching, identify different aspects on students’ learning, provide adequate guidance and differentiate the instructions in a way that could make learning more relevant. |
